Misty Dawn Designs Ring Giveaway

Lovely Misty from Misty Dawn Designs approached me to do a review and giveaway. Since we share a mutual love of sterling silver, I could hardly refuse! Many of her gorgeous wares are rings, but I opted for this lovely pair of earrings instead.

They're just my style: Simple, elegant, silver! These babies could be worn with anything. They're fabulously well made - that little disc is light, but sturdy and I love the detailing on the French hooks. These will get TONS of use.

But Misty wants to give away a set of two stacking rings from her "Mix and Match" set, which are also irresistibly lovely. I adore the look of stacked rings, and they always make me wish I was more of a swap-out ring wearer. Just look what you can choose from:

And there are many more options for your custom ring stack. Tempted? Good! Here's what you've got to do to enter:
  1. Do one or more of the following: follow Misty on Twitter or request to be added to the mailing list by sending her a message via Etsy.

  2. Leave a comment on this post with the following information: Which rings you'd like, which way you'll be following Misty Dawn Designs, and A VALID E-MAIL. Comments without a valid e-mail in the comment will be disqualified.

  3. Cross your fingers!

Enter by midnight CST on Sunday, May 30. I'll draw a winner at random the following week. This contest is open to U.S. and Canadian readers. Good luck, everyone!

Beautyfix Review

When the folks at BeautyFix approached me to do a review, I hesitated. I do lips daily, but seldom much else. Am I really the best tester for this service?

But I took a closer look at what they were offering and decided to give it a whirl. The premise is that you take a survey about your preferences, skin type, color likes and dislikes, and the site stores your data. You pay $50 per season and get to select from an array of new and newish products that align with your wants and needs. A solid concept, but sounds like it's mainly for makeup junkies.

Luckily, not the case. As you can see, I was able to nab a luscious sugar scrub, two products for treating acne-prone skin, and a marvelous curly hair concoction in addition to some gray eyeshadow and a coppery eyeliner.

My box of goodies also came with these two darling makeup bags, which will be put to good use.

It could have to do with being a reviewer and inputting a code to get my stuff for free, but it took a full month from order date to delivery to get this package. As someone who buys online regularly, I think that's bizarre and ridiculous. But, again, may have been because I was a freebie-getter and not a paying customer.

I'll be honest with ya: I cannot imagine laying out $50 per season for a service like this for myself. But I can totally see giving it as a gift. I mean, so long as I remember to order WAY AHEAD of time so the first batch will arrive on time.

If you're interested in this service for yourself or someone else, Beautyfix is offering Already Pretty readers a great deal on the first set of products: Enter code BFIX4 when you check out and you'll get $30 off the $49.95 fee. So you're paying $19.99 for that first round, and you'll get free shipping. Not a bad deal for all the luxe stuff you'll be getting!

Anybody out there interested? Or already subscribing to Beautyfix? Would you give this service as a gift, or does that shipping snafu put you off?

Tsubo Elath Review

This, dear friends, is the Tsubo Elath. I received my very own pair a few weeks ago while still in the throes of my disc-related back pain. I had been slogging around in a pair of $12 Target ballet flats that offered absolutely no arch support and threatened to disintegrate whenever it rained.

So you can imagine my delight when I slipped my tired feet into these beauties for the first time. They're a sleek, classic design, as you can see, but loaded to the gills with squishy comfort. The rounded toebox is roomy and accommodating, the insole is as supportive and soft as it can be, and the rear doesn't ride up and down the way so many flats do.

I wore them home to visit my parents, and we spent two hours walking around a vintage fair, an hour walking around downtown Chicago, and three hours walking around an antique show. Even after all that, my feet AND back felt great.

I will admit that these flats have gotten less love since my physical therapy has started working and my back has stopped aching ... but they are, hands down, the best flats I've ever tried on. They get full marks for both comfort and style, and prompted me to do this with my crappy old Target pair:

I'll never look back. I'm an Elath girl all the way, now.
