AudraJean Harness Review, Coupon, and Giveaway

When Audi and Mark visited us over the summer, Mark gave me a brown leather harness from their shared Etsy shop. I had my doubts about the accessory, but soon found great ways to wear it that suited my style. In fact, I ended up loving it so much that I purchased a second, black harness from Mark. Let me tell you why:

This green vintage dress is a favorite of mine. But, as you can see it's a bit big in the bodice and waist.

Belting it certainly helps cinch the waist, but the bodice remains loose and poochy.

Mark's harness is the only accessory I own that can simultaneously cinch my waist AND give definition just above the waist. It can make just about any loose, boxy garment appear instantly fitted. And for that, I adore it.

This black harness with silver hardware is the Selena model, and guess what? Mark is letting me give one away! Here's how you enter to win:
  1. Visit Audra Jean's Etsy shop.

  2. Leave a comment on this post telling how you'd wear your black Selena harness, and A VALID E-MAIL. Comments without a valid e-mail in the comment will be disqualified.

  3. Cross your fingers!

Enter by midnight CST on Sunday, October 24. I'll draw a winner at random the following week. This contest is open to all readers, including international. Good luck, everyone!

Also! Mark gave me a coupon code for everyone to use: If you decide to buy from the , send him code "Already Pretty" in the notes section for 15% off any of the underbust harnesses under $100. Awesomeness!

Hmmm, I think I'd pair it with a full crinoline, a patterned skirt, and a great pair of boots for a fab night out dancing!

Oh boy. I've been dreaming of this moment. AudraJean has been lurking in my Etsy favorite shops for a loooong time, waiting for the day that I am not an AmeriCorps volunteer so I can buy something.

My assignment is in a school where I am not-so-secretly lauded as "the hot teacher", so wearing leather is a no-go during the day. But I would totally wear this with my leather pencil skirt and some kickin' boots at night.

awesome - this is such beautiful and unique accessory! I would would wear it black on black - I've got a loose-fitting black jersey dress that I love, but it's a bit plain. A harness would up the interest factor immensely!

I'm going to do like suzasana, so my email address doesn't get harvested by spammers:

I recently inherited from a friend a fabulous pair of black, victorian-esque tall boots. I think that the AudraJean harness and my new boots paired with my layered ruffles skirt and the right T-shirt could do WONDERS!

I would wear this with a sort of peasant-ish blouse and an A-line skirt, with tall boots. Or with a jersey mini-dress that I have which I love but can never figure out how to wear as it's really not right for my figure - the harness would make it so.

The Larsens said...

OMG...I have wanted one of these halters ever since the first time you posted a photo of you wearing it.

I have an awesome fall dress with a crinoline underlay skirt with blacks, dark blues and yellows in the pattern. The dress is a smidgeon big in the waist and this harness would totally pull it together. I would also add my retro round toe black heels.

Crossing my everything!!!

I love Audra's blog and think her harnesses are pretty amazing. But I'm fairly clueless on how to put together outfits like that. So I'd have my friends Angela & Kris over, crack open some wine, and we'd figure out what to do with it.

I have a vision!

A burgundy beret, a neutral toned military inspired top with a high waisted sheer skirt (long and flowy)

under the skirt would be garters and stockings, just barely visible, and over the fitted top is the harness.

Complete with boots and voila.

So fun! I love Audi's blog (as well as yours, Sal, natch) and it would be very cool to get one of these babies.

I see myself wearing it with a tunic (knit, woven button down, you name it), leggings or skinnies and tall boots. It would give great structure to some of my more shapeless items!

Ahh, I read Audi's blog as well and have been lusting after Mark's harnesses for a while. I'm more or less hourglassy, but also short-waisted and big-boobed, and I suspect that the harness would look fab.

I can think of a bajillion ways to style this one, but first up is with a big, blowsy H&M black, teal and magenta shift dress. I adore the pattern, but it's so shapeless that even a belt hasn't been able to save it on me. With the harness, black leggings, tall black rocker boots. . . perfecto!

I've been dreaming about ways to make a harness work since discovering Audri's website... she makes them look fab.
Being as my recent weight loss tends to be happening mainly from my waist up, I'd use the harness to accent my waist and chest.

I've been admiring these harnesses for ages, so I'm thrilled for a chance to win one. I would wear it with a sweater I just finished knitting, it's very open knit, with very basic shaping, and long long sleeves, but I know with the right tank underneath, and this harness, it would be fantastic. Thanks!

I have a big ol' girl crush on Audi's blog and the way she accessorizes - especially with the harnesses!

I love tunics, but I am super pear-shaped and they tend not to love me back. The harness would give me some much needed boob & waist definition!

As a mom, the thought of adding such a kick-ass accessory to my wardrobe is appealing. I need all the help I can get with resisting the "perpetual yoga pants & ponytail" look.

I am currently working on a black & white cotton blouse. It has large hearts and circles on it. Bleech! So I was going to use some fabric paint and make the print more abstract. But this harness would definitely reduce the "twee" factor by toughening things up a bit. And cigarette pants and my animal print boots. Rrrr!! I also like Charlotte's idea. Tight tee, tight pants, stiletto books, animal print gele (headwrap). Fierce.

Oh love so many of the Harnesses on the site. I look to you for inspiration on wearing it. However one outfit I would pair it with right away is a silk 3/4 sleeve tunic top/dress I have. It is a bit loose and blousy and so far the belts that I have don't quite work well.

I thrifted an ankle-length dress that I like to call "Susan Boyle meets Chun-Li" (as in, the singer and the video game fighter). It's got a little country frumpy floral print with a bad-ass mandarin collar and high slits. Kind of confusing. It is too loose in the bodice, so I'd wear the harness and some black thigh-high boots...the dress would still be confusing with the print, but it would work.

As someone that is a bit bottom heavy, many dresses are too roomy on top, but fit well on the bottom. This looks like the perfect accessory to help me expand my wardrobe and take advantage of some thrift store finds I otherwise have to pass by because of my body shape!!!

O! O! O! I've been admiring these on Audi for a while!

Well, I've just bought a pair of heeled boots with silver buckle detail (I normally wear flat), and they're just a little bold for the black dresses I wear out (a lot). The harness would be the PERFECT way to balance the new boots and break up the black. Oooo this is so exciting!

I've been drooling over one of those since the first time you mentioned them on your blog, but was never sure if one would fit me or not (as I'm petite and quite short-waisted). I'm not 100% sure how I'd wear it, but I love the idea that it could add some definition to my figure with almost any outfit: sheath dress, button-down shirt, etc.

Thanks to Audi's blog I can think of many many ways to wear this harness and have be fantasizing about it for ages. I have a lot of thin but shapeless sweaters that could really benefit from this harness. I also have a plain dress that does get much from a belt but a harness would rock!

Ohhhh me oh my, I would wear the black harness with a black longsleeved shirt that has a form fitting scoop neckline. On my bottom half, I would wear a formfitting black pencil skirt with bright red tights underneath as a way to offset the black. For shoes, I would stick with either my red doc martens, or my go to black converse as a method of playing with the formality of the outfit.

Hmm, I think I'd wear it over a bright colored top; I have some boring tops that could benefit from some visual interest! The waist cinching wouldn't hurt, either!

I, like most commenters, read and love Audi's blog and love her cool, funky style. However I am very stumped as to how *I* would wear this piece. It is a little out of my style zone...but I'm willing to try! So if I will I will have a grand time pulling things out of my closet and trying to make a great outfit. I will probably look back at both yours and Audi's blog for inspiration!

i've been wanting one of AudraJean's harnesses for a while now - if only i had spending money! if she ever starts using grey leather with brass trimmings, i might have to splurge...
as for a lovely black harness, i have a grey dress that is just a bit too big up top that would look amazing with this harness, also a burgundy plaid dress with the same fitting issues which this would fix perfectly. also would love to try it with ruffled tops and full skirts, or tunics and jeans.
so many options!

Magenta and purple! There's a short swishy magenta skirt in my wardrobe crying out for the AudraJean treatment. Woo, Sal, WHAT a giveaway. I never ever win these things, but for one of Audra's harnesses, I am undaunted!

I would totally wear this over a dress with soft, slightly sheer texture. I think a lightweight/sheer wool knit would look incredible under this. I actually have a designer dress, in a size too big, that is made of sheer silk chiffon over a knit merino lining. I could totally see wearing just the lining as a dress with this harness over it.

It would also be super cute with my ivory pointelle tee and my first pair of skinnies (ever!): they're black, with leather jodphur patches.

This harness could give any garment a steam punk wibe, but I'd probably start out by combining it with the sweetest and most romantic dress I own; the dress rarely get to come out and play since my personal style, eclectic as it may be, doesn't really involve romantic pieces. With the harness, bulky black leather boots and a cool hairstyle, it will be allowed to come out and play again.

I've been reading Audi's blog for so long! Super excited about this giveaway! Does it matter that I'm in New Zealand? :D

-I have a bunch of skirts I've thrifted that don't hit be at the most flattering part of my leg (widest part of my calf- you know what I'm talking about!!) and the harness looks sturdy enough that I could totally hitch them up, roll them under and then hide the evidence. I'd look sassy.

-I'd also use them like you have- to give form to slightly ill-fitting dresses. I have a teensy waist and ribcage that gets lost in lots of dresses.

Good luck everyone :)
