Chadwicks Review, Coupon Code and Giveaway

I've been receiving Chadwicks catalogs for ages, and although I can always find two or three pieces that look adorable, I never did order any of them. So when the folks at Chadwicks asked if I'd like to do a review, the answer was a resounding, "Yes!"*

I was sent this lovely, snuggly, warm and truly fab Convertible Cable Cardigan. What makes it convertible, you ask? Well, I'll show you.

I pretty much love it worn both ways, so convertible win. I requested a small and it was a bit snug, so I'd say this particular piece runs true to size. It's an acrylic blend, so a bit staticky at times, but washable and super soft.

Now, if you see something on the Chadwicks site that you can't live without, I've got a coupon code for ya! Input CHWINTER1 when you check out to receive 40% off one item. The code expires February 29, 2011.

But if you're interested in WINNING some Chadwicks goodies, I've got a $50 gift card to give away!
Here's how you enter to win:

  2. Visit the Chadwicks website

  3. Leave a comment on this post telling saying what items you'd buy if you won the gift card, and A VALID E-MAIL. Comments without a valid e-mail in the comment will be disqualified.

Jones New York Review and Giveaway

The folks over at Jones New York contacted me about a collaboration right around the time that I began working with a style consult client who is a big fan of the line. My exposure to JNY had mostly been through thrifting since I don't generally shop at department stores, and I knew they made quality garments but was curious to find out more.

THEN I found out about their Empowering Your Confidence campaign and was even more intrigued. A study done for the Center for American progress found that half of all American workers are women. And since Jones New York mainly caters to career-oriented women, this statistic inspired them to create some resources for their fans. There's a Little Black Book of Career Advice, with contributions from over 100 influential women including Sony Music president Amanda Ghost, journalist Ariana Huffington, cosmetics guru Bobbi Brown, and former White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers. There's an empowerment journal with posts covering topics about career, style choices, and effective negotiations. Also a series of stylist-guided videos on how to wear and style career-friendly looks, and tons more. It's really an incredibly deep, interesting, and useful little campaign. And you can't often say, that, can you?

Plus, as it turns out, the clothes are GREAT.

Jones New York wanted me to really get a feel for the brand, quality, and aesthetic so I was sent several pieces to review.*

This Draped Twist Front Dress is my absolute favorite. The dark, subtle leopard print, heavy draped jersey fabric, flattering cut ... fabulous. I'm especially enamored of the neckline. It's a plunging one, for sure, but there's a little V of fabric right at the tip of the plunge that keeps it from being TOO revealing. So brilliant! It's a bit long for my taste, and I'll be taking it to the tailor for a chop, but for taller women, gals with longer legs than mine, or women who prefer a more modest length, it's ideal. I generally wear a size 8 dress, and the 8 fits perfectly.

This Three-quarter Sleeve Cashmere Cowl Neck Sweater is super cute, too. It's a fabulous muted red - a color I look for constantly and seldom find - and the cowl itself drapes so elegantly. The cashmere isn't the softest in the world, and it runs a bit smaller than the other pieces I was sent. I requested a small although I'm typically a medium, since the JNY size charts show that most items run large ... but this sweater runs fairly true.

I'll admit that I have this Pleated Sweater Skirt hiked up to my bra line - again, it's a bit long for my taste - but it's stretchy and comfy and conforms beautifully to my shape without being too tight or revealing. Such a fun and versatile piece. Runs slightly big - the small fits my waist, and I'm typically an 8 in skirts.

Finally, this long v-neck cardigan rocks my world. The color is a fabulously versatile neutral that sits somewhere between gray and olive green, and the cut is sleek and refined yet works beautifully with casual ensembles like this one. (This bad boy is sold out, I'm afraid.)

Overall, my impressions are that Jones New York designs high-quality, versatile clothing that's ideal for working women seeking durable, more-modest-than-Banana-Republic-is-currently-offering basics. The cuts are generally long, sizes run a bit big, but as long as you're willing to work within those parameters, you can get some really lovely, super stylish, and utterly timeless pieces that will last you years and years.

I assume that, by now, you're just dying to get your hands on some Jones New York clothes for yourself. Am I right? Well, fortunately, I've got a whopping $250 gift card for jny.com to give away!

Bionic Unicorn Giveaway and Coupon Code

I met Kristin, the powerhouse designer behind fabulous steampunk-influenced jewelry line Bionic Unicorn, at a holiday artisan fair back in November. And let me tell you, friends, she is FABULOUS. We hit it off immediately and hatched plans to get you folks a few chances to nab some of her pieces for yourselves. She was also kind enough to send me the funky-fab earrings you see me wearing above,* and since I'm currently obsessed with all things cobalt blue, I'm just thrilled to have them to wear.

Back in November, I published a 15% off coupon code for Bionic Unicorn, and while you can still get the discount, the code has changed.  If you see something in the shop that you'd like to purchase, enter "Iampretty" - that's "I am pretty" with no spaces - to receive 15% off. The discount will automatically populate when you enter the code.

BUT! If you'd also like a shot at winning these beauties for absolutely nothing:

Here's how you enter to win:
  1. Be a U.S. resident.

  2. Visit the Bionic Unicorn website.

  3. Leave a comment on this post telling how you'd style these amazing earrings, and A VALID E-MAIL. Comments without a valid e-mail in the comment will be disqualified.

  4. Cross your fingers!

Enter by midnight CST on Sunday, January 16. I'll draw a winner at random the following week. This contest is open to U.S. residents only. Good luck, everyone

ManoBello Review and Giveaway

I feel so fortunate to have connected with Cyn, the talented designer behind ManoBello, a truly gorgeous line of handcrafted leather accessories. Her luxe, detailed pieces are unique, striking, and bold but they're also soft, comfortable, and beautifully crafted. In other words, everything in her shop is lust-worthy, from the boot straps and belts to the more avant-garde bustles and harnesses.

I was lucky enough to receive a belt from ManoBello to review and keep.* It arrived in some of the prettiest packaging I've ever seen:

The belt itself is a dark gunmetal leather with just a hint of metallic shine. The long strap is supple and soft, which makes it comfy to wear and easy to style. I've worn it as a subtle accent in a mix of dark neutrals ...

... and more prominently in a monochrome outfit.

I'm excited to see how I can style this rose-embellished belt as the weather gets warmer, too!

And I'm absolutely thrilled to have a $100 credit to ManoBello to give away! Please be aware that this credit must be applied to an item valued at $101 or more, must be used within 30 days, and winner is responsible for shipping charges. Here's how you enter to win:

  1. Like the ManoBello Facebook page or follow ManoBello on Twitter. You must do one of these things to enter.

  2. Visit the ManoBello Etsy shop.

  3. Leave a comment on this post telling saying how you're following ManoBello, which item from the shop you love best, and A VALID E-MAIL. Comments without a valid e-mail in the comment will be disqualified.
