PONO Review and Giveaway

The lovely folks at PONO by Joan Goodman contacted me recently to see if I'd be interested in working with them on a review and giveaway. And I SO was. I've admired this fun and funky line of jewelry for several years, and jumped at the chance to see some pieces for myself.

I was sent this truly lovely cuff*:

I have fairly small wrists so this sculpted resin cuff is a bit large on me, but I absolutely adore the design. I'm bummed that it's still so cold that long sleeves are the order of the day. Can't wait to wear short sleeves and tanks so I can show off this gorgeous piece.

And PONO sent me a second piece, that is up for grabs! Check out this funky wood and chain bracelet:

Such an unusual piece! It's lightweight, eye-catching, and totally perfect for spring and summer wear. Can't you just imagine it with a darling sun dress?

And it can be yours! You lucky gal!  If you're interested in winning the second bracelet (wood and chain), here's what you've got to do to enter:
  1. Visit PONO by Joan Goodman and scope out the items in the line.

  2. Leave a comment on this post telling us how you'd style the wood and chain bracelet if you won it, and A VALID E-MAIL. Comments without a valid e-mail in the comment will be disqualified.

  3. This contest is open to international readers. I'll be mailing the bracelet myself, so it might come slowly ... but it'll come!

  4. Cross your fingers!

Enter by midnight CST on Sunday, March 6, 2011. I'll draw a winner at random the following week. This giveaway is open to everyone, including international readers. Good luck!

I have teeny wrists, so most bracelets are too big. I'd attach the bracelet ends to strips of teal ribbon (to call out the color of the lone teal bauble) and tie it around my neck as a variable-length necklace to fill in the neckline of whatever summer dress or top I'm wearing - thinking especially of a Nile blue silk t shirt dress (80's vintage), with a turmeric-colored cardigan cinched over it with two skinny belts cross-buckled, one natural leather and one dark brown. And my tan leather, wood soled 60's platform sandals to ground the lot.

Like GlamaRuth, I'd adapt it to become a necklace, extending it with raw leather cording to emphasize its earthy glamor.

Then I'd use it playfully with white t-shirt/jeans/flip flops, as well as to ground a floaty, floral silk skirt.

Thanks for turning me on to this cool line!

I would wear this bracelet with a white maxi sundress. Since I like to wear multiple bracelets, I would add gold, bone, turquiose and coral bangles. I'd have my hair pulled up in a messy bun with a vintage scarf wrapped around my head and tied in back. With a fresh pedi, I would opt for simple neutral sandals. I would also imagine myself on the beach in Florida. I want summer to get here so bad. :)

I'd DOUBLE this pretty bracelet TWO ways: Open the link of the turquoise bead (matches my eyes), remove it, hang the bead on a long chain, wear bracelet and necklace with white tank and dark denims. OR, remove TWO of the natural-color beads, hang them on earring findings, do a cornflower cami with beige khakis (think cruise-wear)!

I'd style this with either an incredibly bohemian maxi dress and seqined sandals or with a simple sheath dress in navy with nude pumps.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

When I saw this bracelet I finally knew what to do with some loose 14K gold vintage charms I inherited.
I would add the charms to the rings on this bracelet. Since the charms are quite large and bulky, they would be a great compliment to the existing beads.
It's exciting to think my family heirlooms would finally make it out of the drawer and onto a bracelet.
Thanks!
