Oh my friends, words cannot express my excitement about this giveaway. At this point, I'm sure you're all aware of my borderline unhealthy obsession with Prairie Underground's Long Cloak Hoodies
Prairie Underground is a company that creates clothing in small batches from materials that include organic cotton farmed sustainably and remnant/salvaged fabrics. Their garments are designed and ethically made in Seattle. So THAT'S a big boatload of awesome. And, of course, their designs are fun, flattering, comfortable, versatile, unique, and utterly gorgeous. I am perfectly comfortable with my raving fangirl status, thankyouverymuch.
I got in touch with the amazing designers behind Prairie Underground - Davora Lindner and Camilla Eckersley - and they generously offered to send me a couple more designs to try out.*
Wise as they are, the ladies sent me a pair of their Denim Girdle Leggings. These are basically the only pair I've ever tried that successfully straddle the line between jeggings and jeans. They are stretchy and flexible and fabulously comfortable, and work beautifully as denim leggings.
But they also have enough detail - including cargo-like decorative seaming - and structure to work as skinny jeans, too. They launder beautifully, have a marvelously high rise, and you can see exactly how happy they make me in the three above photos.
I was also sent this Sateen Mothette dress in coral:
As you can see, this dress is utterly lovely ... but I don't feel it quite works with my figure. The dress waistline falls several inches below my own waist, and the asymmetric flap at hip-level juts out a bit more than I'd like. Looking at the website photos, however, I believe that this dress would be stunning on a gal with slightly different proportions.
So, my loss is your gain: I'm giving this dress away to a lucky Already Pretty reader! A couple of IMPORTANT things to note:
- It is this exact dress that I'm giving away. I opened it from the package and tried it on twice. Never had it on for more than 15 minutes total, including the time it took to take this photo. But the dress is not 100% new. You've been warned.
- This dress is a size medium. I wear a size 8 in most mall dresses and it fit me in the waist, bust, and hips. You can find a size chart for this dress here and I would guess that the dress will fit a U.S. size 6, 8, or a smallish 10. Flat measurements are 16" bust, 14" waist, 19" at widest part of hips.
- If you have questions, you can e-mail me and I'll respond as best I can. DO NOT LEAVE QUESTIONS IN THE COMMENTS OF THIS POST. I will not respond to them.
If you enter this giveaway, you are agreeing to receive a dress that has been tried on by me and fits the above specifications. If you don't like it, it doesn't fit, or you didn't carefully read these detailed disclaimers, that's on you, kitten. No returns, exchanges, or complaints. Got it? Great! Here's what you've got to do to enter:
- Leave a comment on this post telling us how you'd style this amazing dress, and A VALID E-MAIL. Comments without a valid e-mail in the comment will be disqualified.
- This contest is open to international readers. I'll be mailing the dress myself, so it might come slowly ... but it'll come!
- Cross your fingers!
Enter by midnight CST on Sunday, May 15, 2011. I'll draw a winner at random the following day. This giveaway is open to everyone, including international readers. Good luck

Ohhh soo many ways to style it! A skinny black belt and black flats. Or nude wedges and a big ol' flower in my hair. Or for winter, a chunky knit sweater and tights. Or, because I'm from Texas, leather cowgirl boots for a dance!

I think the dress looks gorgeous on you. I would wear it with nude platform heels, a wide straw hat, a bright bracelet, and big black sunglasses- I'd feel smashing as I enjoy my lunch in the atrium at the rose garden. I definitely need a bright new dress. I'll cross my fingers and get sewing too.

Sally that color looks stunning on you. But i also love coral. I'm wearing a coral blouse as we speak. Of course I would adore the dress. ( Even though it suits you well) .

A beautiful color and unusual style. I think I would open a couple more buttons and wear a contrasting camisole and a brown suede jacket and chocolate brown suede boots.
I might belt it too.
Thanks!

What a gorgeous dress! In coral, my new favourite summer colour. And by new I mean I've discovered I love wearing coral a couple of years ago :-)
Let's see: I'd wear it with a pair of turquoise wedges and a brooch on the the hip flap, maybe just a DIY grosgrain ribbon on a safety pin and some bangles.
Here's my e-mail: anakrepel@gmail.com
Cute dress! I like the gathering on the top. I'm all about black, so I would wear a thick black belt with it and black accessories.
amyejoyce at hotmail dot com
It is lovely on you! Have only recently discovered Prairie Underground (thank you, Sal!). That would be the perfect little travel dress for my trip to Europe this summer. Depending on the shade, would wear with little chartreusey green sweater from Hobbs (looks great with coral) -- or navy heals and jacket, or with denim jacket and sandals or with .... just about everything! Susan sjmars2006@yahoo.com [sjmars2006 at yahoo dot com]
amazing dress! coral is one of my favorite colors to wear - i would probably just wear black flats and silver jewelry so as not to distract from the fabulousness of the dress!
loislane1001 (at) hotmail (dot) com
I'd rock the dress with a pair of zebra print strappy sandals, wedge heal. I'd also need a clutch to finish the look and sutle earrings.
I'd rock the dress with a pair of zebra print, wedge sandals. Finishing the look with a seqiun clutch and sutle diamond earrings.

I would wear this dress with strappy sandals and an ear to ear grin of happiness - sophisticated dress but still comfy and relaxed.
I learned about Prairie Underground on your blog and now am lusting after their collection!
I agree with what a lot of other folks have said, the color of the coral dress looks amazing on you, makes your skin glow and your hair radiant...but then so does the shirt you are wearing in today's outfit post.
I would style that dress with my black and white harlequin tights, black mary janes, a black military blazer and coral earrings and bangles...with a crown braid and coral ribbon
danielle.bradnan@gmail.com

I would wear it as is with some bright flats and turquoise jewelry!
kidennis@hotmail.com
That color is to die for. I think I would wear it with colorful flats and a belt. I might throw on a simple jacket because I'm always cold.
edielp(at)gmail(dot)com
That color is great, but I'd stick to styling with black at first till I got used to it more. I do have a cute pair of heeled mary janes that would go nicely with it.
I love this dress! It looks like it'd be relatively easy to bike in too! I'd wear it with a beaded cuff and huge earrings.
nmk 2102 (at) columbia (dot) edu
I love the color - I'd probably wear it with bright flats and a big bracelet.
tisiree (at) gmail (dot) com

ekmarquez@hotmail.com
I adore coral and brown, so I would style this dress with my brown gladiator wedges and wooden bangles in the summer and my brown frye's and a brown cardi in the winter. I love Prairie Underground and would love even more to own something from them.

that is one gorgeous dress...with light blue sandals, all summer long!
bkastori@yahoo.com
I'd love to rock that color! nightmaji [at] yahoo (dot) com
Love the dress, but I'm always cold. Sleeveless dresses always get a cardigan -- for this dress, simple open front drape cardigan and heeled sandals.
michelle.pallas@gmail.com
Yum. I would style it simply. With high platform sandals or, in winter, boots. Large hoop earrings and maybe a bracelet in the same metal.
Droooool
thilmanyj at yahoo.com
I'm commenting not to enter the contest, but to ask Prairie Underground to start making plus-sized clothes!
I know it's a long shot, but there's a big wide-open market of plus-sized women who would love love love to be able to buy your clothes. (You're hearing from one of them right now... one who's been fruitlessly searching for somewhere to buy a long hoodie-dress for months, now!)
I'd style it with a grey cardigan and grey boots, with silver earrings.
LOVELY!
annaspringer@abbacominc.com
Beauty! I love the color and details, so I would wear nude strappy sandals and add just a few bangles, keep the focus on the dress.
Fingers crossed!
johnandrach (at) me (dot) com
I so love the color of the dress. i would wear it with a nice pair of heel and a black belt
So lovely! The color is totally this season, too!

I'd love to try that dress with my favorite pair of Reiker buckle boots. I've been mostly-unemployed since finishing graduate school last spring, and I'm a single mom, so my opportunities to be out of the house doing something fulfilling, or feeling attractive, are limited at best. I've gotten into a real rut in the last few months of wearing nothing but saggy, baggy, dull-colored clothing, as if I'm trying to make myself as unnoticeable as possible. I don't have any money for a wardrobe, currently, so I've been out thrifting and church-saling, trying to introduce some color into my wardrobe in the hopes that it will renew my feeling good about myself, and make me want to no longer fade into the background. The first thing I thought when I looked at that dress was Wow! Color!, and then that I think it would suit me, and then that it would suit these boots (that I'm wearing right now with a $2 church-sale skirt and a pair of Target tights - and THANK YOU for turning me on to buying Target's totally affordable, totally colorful tights - just one more small way I'm trying to learn how to be less drab and dull).
I love the dress!!! Your generosity, I also love.
That color is utterly gorgeous, and I just love all the detailing. I'd wear it with my wide black belt and Pour la Victoire sandals.
I actually found a local shop in SF that sells Prairie Underground stuff -- I tried on the long hoodie but it doesn't work as well on my figure as it does on yours. However, I think I need to have the Orchid Cape!
The color and design are awesome! I'd love to take this for a spin with some nude pumps (to be purchased soon, hopefully), and a floral head scarf.
spoilsofwear@gmail.com
This dress is so cute and would be a much-needed girlier addition to my summer wardrobe! hemm0055 at gmail dot com
What a lovely dress, and one I actually think looks stunning on you. I've been wanting something in that color of coral for some time. I'd definitely pair the dress with some simple flats and subdued jewelry to let it pop. I also have a unique suede belt that might work with it in a monochromatic experiment.
emily (dot) mcintyre (at) rocketmail.com
Beautiful! I would pair it with a black cardigan and cute wedge sandals. Thanks!
candice(dot)eggleston(at)gmail(dot)com
I'm rather long-waisted, so this dress just might work! It's absolutely lovely.
As for styling it, I'm rather not-creative, so first time would be with a basic pump and lady-like necklace. I might get some confidence later and pull out the leather and spikes.
achristinesearl[at]gmail[dot]com
I'd keep it simple with my new giant Naot platform sandals and a wooden bangle bracelet. This dress needs to be the star of the show!
I actually think I might be around your size/shape, but since it looks great on you in my opinion, I'd love to win!
Sal, you look amazing in that shade of coral. I think the design does look great on you, and I really like the ruffle detail on top.
Gah, if I won, I'd probably wear it with really tall brown wedges and a long blazer. Love this.
sidewalkchic(at)gmail(dot)com
Lovely...and I think it might fit me. :) So I'd wear it with my metallic flats and lots of silver jewelry.
corrieanneb@juno.com
I would wear amazing chandelier earrings and sexy slingbacks. I think the style would help give me a more feminine figure by accentuating my hips.
ilovemath1001@gmail.com
I would wear this dress with a cardigan and lots of gold jewelry. It's very nice! My e-mail is twoandahalf at gmail dot com.
Love the color first of all! I would probably style it several different ways, but with Summer on the way, I'd pair it with nude wedges and a 3/4 sleeve yellow cardigan with a thin nude belt. Bekkileigh@gmail.com
Gray, yellow or pale beige shoes. Yellow or pale beige purse. No necklace. kimwalshstone at yahoo dot com

emilykellis@gmail.com
What a great giveaway! I think the coral dress would look great with some gladiator sandals. Thanks!
teresa dot kurtz@gmail.com
This dress has such great colour and details, it almost styles itself! But I think I'd be accessorizing with bracelets for sure: either silver cuffs (I have a gorgeous vintage one from my grandma) with big silver earrings and strappy black heels for a modern/dressy vibe, or a bit more casual with some coloured and/or wooden bangles and a bold summery wedge.
sdlee [at] mac [dot] com
I would wear this dress with belt and a jacket for work. the waist line seems to be a little lower than the dresses you usually wear and a medium and wide belt will raise the waist line a little bit.
greensequoia(at) naver (dot) com
I'd wear the dress with tall brown boots and a turquoise belt. lawtalkinggirl@gmail.com
beautiful dress, thanks for the giveaway! i think i'd wear it with a belted cardigan! - heidi (hamoth@gmail.com)
That dress is amazing! I'd pair it with teal tights and teal suede wedges - I love the whole complimentary coloiur combo. I might also tie a little patterned teal scarf in under the collar :)
rebeccak(at)gmail(dot)com
Love the dress! I'd pair it with my robin's egg blue flats, which don't seem to go quite right with anything else.
Prairie Underground makes clothing I absolutely covet. Someday I'll save enough to invest in a piece!
That dress is lovely. Coral isn't one of my usual colors (black, brown, gray) so I'm not sure yet how I would style it but I'm certain I'd love to win it. :)
coxhomestead at gmail dot com
I'm not sure how I'd style it. It's not the usual type of clothing I wear but I would love to win and try :)
I'm not sure how I'd style it. It's not the usual type of clothing I wear but I would love to win and try :)
I love ruffles and gathers, so this dress is right up my alley! And also in my size...
I'd wear it with either black pumps or my wine-red high-heeled booties, if the color doesn't clash, chunky golden bracelets, small (golden) earrings, and my hair in french braids, maybe pinned up.
I would style it with a long sleeve top underneath and some pants but I would like to give this to my mom she would love it .
tumblemumbo at gmail dot com

I would wear the dress with a freshwater pearl necklace and some wedge sandals and I'd be set for summer!

zervansicks (at) gmail (dot) com
Oh, that's exactly the right proportions for my body! And I'm forced to admit that I have two pairs of coral-ish shoes... so they'd take turns going with this dress!
suburbanplumage (at) gmail (dot) com
The retail pieces pieces in my wardrobe are thrifted ao it would actually by nice to own something a little newer. I'd wear it with, black, yellow or turquoise. And a fabulous gele of course.

*with spring green, vintage ball earrings and a brightly colored vintage plastic choker
*With wooden jewelry (necklace, earrings)

I have their hoodie coat, too, in navy and I love, love, love it. I would style this dress with my lime green cardi and my remix yellow platform peeptoes. Yes I would! (I might even send you a photo.)
ltbrod (at) tds (dot) net
Great dress. :) I'd add a classic bent with a pair of black pumps, my black slightly cat-eye glasses and a big - but still almost casual - cocktail-style ring. Quirky? Yes. My thing? Totally, haha.
Thanks for giving the dress away, you generous lady, you! I hate when things don't fit just the way I like them to, but am happy this is your solution to that problem!
jen@awakenedaesthetic.com
I would wear it with a nude pair of heels. I also have some breast cancer ribbon jewelry that would look great with it!
