I feel very fortunate to be in a position to work with and promote up-and-coming designers, and was totally thrilled when the folks from Barbara Briones Shoes got in touch about a review and giveaway. Barbara is a tremendously talented Chilean designer who is now based in New York. She studied in London at the Cordwainers school and then spent some time working Mulberry, several years at Ferragamo, and then launched her marvelous eponymous line a few seasons ago. Her shoe designs are bold without being jarring, eye-catching without being over-the-top, and all utterly lovely.
I was sent the Isabel to try.*
These shoes are a marvel. The basket weave is crafted from an incredibly supple suede that has just enough give and just enough structure. The textured bow also holds its shape beautifully, yet is made from an incredibly soft leather. The heel is fabulously walkable. And, of course, the shoes have a cheeky retro vibe that appeals to my own sense of personal style.
All that said, I've got a DIFFERENT fabulous pair of Barbara Briones shoes to give away that I think will excite you even more!
Aren't those stunning? These gorgeous peeptoes are the Emelia style, and they're a special edition for Anthropologie. Barbara designed three special edition shoes for Anthro and all three embody Barbara's longtime obsessions: Handmade woven leather, mixing colors, and the lovely traditional woven café chairs that she remembers so fondly from her time spent in Buenos Aires.
You could totally rock these amazing heels, you know. Since you clearly want to get your hands (or feet!) on a pair, here's what you've got to do to enter:
- Be a U.S. resident.
- Like Barbara Briones on Facebook. You MUST do this to enter.
- Leave a comment on this post telling us how you'd style your Emelias if you won, and A VALID E-MAIL. Comments without a valid e-mail in the comment will be disqualified.
- Cross your fingers!
Enter by midnight CST on Sunday, August 14, 2011. I'll draw a winner at random the following day. This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only. Good luck!
*These shoes were a sample for review purposes only, and were sent back to the vendor.

I love the shoes! I would wear them with a black maxi dress, a denim jacket, that is like a short denim pea coat and a chunky necklace.
I also think they would be great with shorts with a paper bag waist and tights.
