Vivat Veritas Review and Coupon Code

Several months back, I got in touch with Chie Duncan, the lovely designer behind Vivat Veritas. She proposed that we collaborate on designing a dress. Now, I don't fancy myself a designer in the least, but since my end basically just involved submitting an inspiration board, I was totally game. I sent this along:

The green dress is a favorite of mine, but that neckline is super tricky. I was hoping for something similar, but more versatile and appropriate for everyday wear. A few weeks ago, Chie sent me this lovely frock:

It's plaid, high-waisted, features a full skirt and sleeves, and has a much easier neckline to style. Needless to say, I love it! It was such fun working with Chie to envision this dress.

While you can certainly collaborate with Chie at Vivat Veritas on a custom piece, she's generously offering 15% off any pre-made in her store! (Also works in her Etsy store.) Just use coupon code PRETTY15 when you check out to receive the discount.

Shop Adorn Review, Giveaway, and Coupon Code!

My love of Prairie Underground is no secret, so you KNOW that when I got a note from the fabulous folks at Portland-based Shop Adorn about checking out some pieces from their new fall line, I did a little dance of joy. They sent me the Prairie Underground Long Cloak Hoodie in Brown Out and the Nouveau Legging in Black to review and keep.*

The Long Cloak Hoodie is a fabulous garment in every way. It's comfortable, washable, and durable but also interesting and eye-catching. I never fail to get compliments and comments when I wear mine, and I'm thrilled to have this hoodie in a dark neutral for fall and winter. I finally switched things up and tried it with a dress, and LOVE how it looks! This year, the Long Cloak is available in a gorgeous magenta - snap one up before they sell out. (If this longline version doesn't send you, check out the Mid-Victorian Hoodie or standard Cloak Hoodie instead.) I wear a size 8 dress and take a size medium in this garment.

Prairie Underground jeans and leggings are also a longtime favorite of mine. I've got two pairs of their Denim Girdle leggings, but these black cotton Nouveau ones are new to me. I already adore them. They've got subtle but artful stitching and piecing all along the legs and are made from a lightweight denim-y twill. Such a great upgrade from a basic black cotton legging. I wear a size 10/12 pant and the size medium was too snug, so I went with a large.

In addition to stocking Prairie, Shop Adorn carries a great selection of local Oregon designers as well as loads of my other favorite brands like Ellington bags, LAMade, and Sanctuary. These folks have fabulous taste, and their stock of tastefully casual and artfully made garments shows it.

If you're just itching to try some Prairie Underground pieces yourself, I've got good news! Shop Adorn is offering s $50 gift card to one lucky Already Pretty reader! Here's what you've got to do to enter:

Sierra Trading Post Review and Giveaway

Sierra Trading Post will forever hold a special place in my online bargain shopper's heart. Why, you ask? Because I purchased my very first pair of Frye boots from their site more than five years ago. I nabbed my dusty brown Campus boots for $99 - about one-third their typical retail cost - and the experience cemented my belief that great brands can be procured at affordable prices. (Last winter, I bought a pair of Sorel boots at 50% off from Sierra Trading Post, too!) It's been a while since I've scoured the extensive STP offerings, but when the company contacted me about a collaboration, I was thrilled. This website is a great source for brand-name bargains of all kinds.

I was sent this 100% cotton Neve Trudy Cardigan to review and keep.*

I actually spotted (no pun intended) this very cardigan at a boutique up in Ely last fall. It comes in four gorgeous colorways, and I'd been eyeing up the "Sprout" version. Looking at my options on the Sierra Trading Post site, though, I went for the still-adorable but more utilitarian "Ivory" option. This cardigan is a great mid-weight cotton with a thick but pliable weave. It runs a wee bit large, so I ordered down - a size small fit my typically medium/size 6-8 top perfectly. The cardigan is shaped at the waist, but fits comfortably without pulling. And hey! Check out the interior:

(Pay no attention to that biker. Although he does match the color scheme quite nicely ...) The cardigan isn't reversible, but I'll have fun making some false lapels with my fashion tape next time I wear it!

Sierra Trading Post has a reputation for supplying outdoorsy types with coats, boots, tents, and field gear ... and those things are available in abundance on the site. But the stylish shopper will be keen to know that they stock Born, Sofft, Clarks, Danso, Tsubo, Frye, and Anne Klein shoes, as well as clothing from Cole Haan, 7 for All Mankind, Magaschoni, Ellen Tracy, Kenneth Cole, Lucky Brand, and many more. It's a great resource for quality clothing, shoes, and accessories of all kinds at deeply discounted prices.

I'm super excited to have a $200 gift card to Sierra Trading post to give away to one lucky Already Pretty reader! Here's what you've got to do to enter:

  2. Like Sierra Trading Post on Facebook.

Foxcroft Review and Giveaway

Since my previous collaboration with Foxcroft, I've become even more impressed with the company's offerings. In addition to creating classic button-front shirts and blouses in sizes through 24W, Foxcroft does an amazing job of crafting garments that stand up to wear and tear. When they asked if I'd be interested in trying any of their new products, I jumped at the chance. I was sent this Stretch Cotton Essentials Tunic to review.*

This tunic has some great shaping details, but still has a relatively loose, forgiving fit. It's a bit shorter than my ideal for a tunic, which means it will work fabulously on petites and women looking to adjust torso/leg proportions. The fabric is sturdy but pliable, and looked freshly laundered even after a full day's wear. I am usually a size 6 or 8 on top, and was sent a size 6. I could probably have taken a size 4 in this style, so I'd say it runs a size bigger than is typical of most mall brands. It comes in a variety of on-trend colors, and is a great piece for anyone who likes to lend a clean, classic feel to her casual looks.

I'm thrilled to be giving away winner's choice of garment from the Foxcroft site to one lucky Already Pretty reader! Here's what you've got to do to enter:
  1. Be a U.S. resident.
  2. Like Foxcroft on Facebook.
  3. Visit the Foxcroft website to pick out your favorite piece. (Plus sizes are under Women's.)
  4. Leave a comment on this post telling us which garment you'd select if you won, and A VALID E-MAIL. Comments without a valid e-mail in the comment will be disqualified. (Best policy: note your e-mail like this: sally [at] alreadypretty [dot] com)
  5. Cross your fingers!

Enter by midnight CST on Sunday, September 9, 2012. I'll draw a winner at random the following day. This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only.

Good luck!
