Although I'm a transplant, I've got a lot of local pride for my now-hometown of Minneapolis. So when Mary Jo from RockPaperScissors dropped me a line about doing a review/giveaway of one of her canvas envelope clutches, I was just tickled.

Although Mary Jo stocks clutches featuring city names including London, Paris, and Rome, I requested a custom Minneapolis clutch.* As you can see, it turned out beautifully! Get a load of that gorgeous, curly M, why don't ya?

The clutch is fairly small and flat, ideal for keys, ID, and maybe some lipstick. The interior is lined with a slippery animal-print fabric that allows contents to move freely. And is super cute.

The exterior is a rough, tan canvas that that gives the piece a funky edge. Due to its size and design, I could see this clutch making a great wallet alternative, too.

Since I live in Minnesota AND I'm a devoted skirt-and-dress gal, I am on a constant search for the perfect pair of tights. Last year, I had settled upon the SPANX high-waisted models, but they weren't quite as comfy as I'd have liked. So when Peek Brooklyn - a small online hosiery boutique dedicated to offering the best hosiery in the world - asked if I'd like to do a review and giveaway, how could I say no?

I requested a pair of opaque Commando tights* the moment I saw the phrase "signature dig-free waistband." And friends, these tights deliver. This product shot gives you a better idea than I could of how this magical waistband works:

It's basically a flat, stretchy panel of elastic that hits relatively high on the torso. And while it will occasionally roll a tiny bit, it does NOT dig. It expands and moves with the wearer, sits flat on the body, and feels absolutely amazing. And, as you can see from the outfit above and this one below, these tights are dark and shine-free.

Are they perfect? Close, but not quite. They're a bit staticky - more so than many of my other pairs - and they only size up to 170 pounds. But they've quickly become my favorite pair of tights, and I intend to order ALL of the other available colors. Seriously.

Moissanite Earrings Review and Giveaway

Must-have fashion lists generally irk me, but one item I believe that nearly all women should own is a pair of clear, sparkly studs. For years I've specified diamond or cubic zirconia studs, but now I'm DEFINITELY adding Moissanite to the list.

Moissanite is named for the man who discovered a mineral called silicon carbide, Dr. Henri Moissan, a French Nobel Prize recipient in chemistry. Silicon carbide itself is very rare in its natural form and too scarce in nature to be mined, but Charles & Colvard - makers of Moissanite - own a patented process for creating the jewel in a way that recreates the characteristics of the original mineral. The company says that Moissanite stones have more fire and brilliance than diamonds, but they're considerably cheaper to produce since raw materials don't have to be mined from the earth.

I'll admit that I don't own many diamonds and the ones I have are teeny and difficult to examine for brilliance. But I'll tell you what I do know. I was sent a pair of 0.5 carat Moissanite studs to review* -similar to these - and I am beyond impressed.

I have a pair of CZ studs in my jewelry box that are the exact size and shape of these new ones. I've been wearing the Moissanite ones quite a bit since they arrived and was looking for them over the weekend and grabbed the CZ ones instead. I knew IMMEDIATELY they were the wrong studs. The difference in sparkle, color, and glow is absolutely astonishing. The Moissanite earrings are simply gorgeous and have become my new stud staple.

What? You don't stand in your dining room to lift weights? Totally normal.

I've been a convert to Lucy workout gear for several years now, so when the company offered to collaborate on a review and giveaway, I responded with a resounding, "YES!"

I was sent the top and pants you see above,* both of which are comfy, breathable and fabulous. The pants have a marvelously high rise and have become my workout pants of choice. I take a 10 or 12 in most pants, and these size large ones fit snugly. I have a 30" - 31" inseam and need the short pant length for sure!

The top hasn't gotten much use yet since it's quite cold here in MN, but I love the design. Doesn't look like this particular print is for sale on the site, but here's the style.

This x-back tank has a built-in, padded bra - perfect for my in-a-constant-state-of-nipping-out B-cups, but perhaps not ideal for women who need more support. This is a size medium and fits me beautifully. I'll probably sneak this lovely into some non-workout outfits, too. Such a cute print.

I've been an EILEEN FISHER fan for a looooooong time, but my adoration for this company was cemented when I had the chance to visit their showroom back in February to preview the Fall 2011 line. Seeing the designs, discussing their inspirations, and handling the gorgeous textiles further convinced me that Eileen Fisher garments are worthwhile investment pieces. In fact, the collection made such an impression on me that I stalked and bought this coat, and the company was generous enough to send me this lovely Cable Infinity Wrap.*

The wrap is made from a soft, plush mohair/nylon blend and has lots of give to it. It is INCREDIBLY warm, and made even short-sleeved ensembles wearable in nippy fall temperatures. As you can see, I've styled the wrap as a capelet - a look I completely love - but it can also be worn draped, as an infinity scarf. This accessory would be a great item to add flair and sophistication to any wardrobe.

I've worn my pair of yellow Dr. Scholl's sandals many, many, many, many times and I just ADORE them, So when the good folks at Dr. Scholl's Shoes contacted me about a review and giveaway, I jumped at the chance!

I was sent these Ali Booties in Malt Taupe to try out.* And I was delighted to find that they're just as comfortable, cute, and walkable as my other pair of Dr. Scholl's Shoes. That little heel is sturdy but chic, and the footbed is marvelously flexible. These little guys have got a sweater cuff at the opening, but I found that a pair of ankle socks peeking out the top looked just adorable. I'm also eager to try them with knee socks and tights, once it gets colder.

A wonderful reader pointed me toward Voet Leg Bandeaux ages ago, but I'm ashamed to admit that I can't find that correspondence. If it was you, dear reader, sing out! I'm so grateful for the tip! I now have a set of all three colors in my possession* and am absolutely enamored of them.

This ingenious product allows you to create layered legwear looks without having to pile on bonus pairs of socks. The bandeaux are loops of lace that you slip onto your calves and arrange so that they peek out of your boot tops. Here, I'm wearing mine with bare legs, but they look fantastic layered over opaque tights, too.

My feet get hot and sweaty in most nylon socks, but I adore how they look. These leg bandeaux allow me to wear my favorite cotton ankle socks, but look like I'm wearing something far fancier. Love it. These little lovelies come in three sizes, and fit calves from about 12" to 16.5".

I'm a huge fan of multicolored scarves, since I see them as fabulous bridging pieces. A bright scarf can tie nearly any outfit together, and the more colors it includes, the more daring you can be with your other pieces! And yes, I realize I went with neutrals here, but this scarf is also such a fabulous statement piece, I wanted to let it shine.

In addition to having some of my absolute favorite shades, this handmade scarf has the most adorable fish graphic on it. You'd never know it when the over-sized silk rectangle is wrapped around your neck, unless that curious fish eye happens to peek out!

Plum Pretty Sugar Loungerie Review and Giveaway

I don't generally go in for super fancy sleep duds, and have a few sets of PJs that I adore. But when the Plum Pretty Sugar Loungerie folks asked if I'd like to do a review and giveaway, I just couldn't resist their adorable cuts and gorgeous prints.

I was sent the Tunic Dress in Darling Jardin Blue to review.*

As you can see, this cotton tunic has a deep notch neckline, an empire-waist drawstring, and a high thigh hemline. It's too short for me to consider wearing on its own, but would make a darling nightgown on a more petite gal. The cotton is thin and does wrinkle fairly easily, but it's also marvelously lightweight and breathable, so perfect for anyone who tends to overheat at night. I was sent a size medium and it fits closely but well. (I generally take a size 8/medium in mall store dresses.)

You can bet I'll find a way to make this tunic work as streetwear. That print is so lovely, I just can't relegate it to the bedroom forever!

I feel very fortunate to be in a position to work with and promote up-and-coming designers, and was totally thrilled when the folks from Barbara Briones Shoes got in touch about a review and giveaway. Barbara is a tremendously talented Chilean designer who is now based in New York. She studied in London at the Cordwainers school and then spent some time working Mulberry, several years at Ferragamo, and then launched her marvelous eponymous line a few seasons ago. Her shoe designs are bold without being jarring, eye-catching without being over-the-top, and all utterly lovely.

I was sent the Isabel to try.*

These shoes are a marvel. The basket weave is crafted from an incredibly supple suede that has just enough give and just enough structure. The textured bow also holds its shape beautifully, yet is made from an incredibly soft leather. The heel is fabulously walkable. And, of course, the shoes have a cheeky retro vibe that appeals to my own sense of personal style.

All that said, I've got a DIFFERENT fabulous pair of Barbara Briones shoes to give away that I think will excite you even more!

Aren't those stunning? These gorgeous peeptoes are the Emelia style, and they're a special edition for Anthropologie. As a bona-fide shoe lover, I've had to spend a good amount of time, money, and effort experimenting with products that are meant to improve shoe fit. I've got a vast array of inserts and pads that have been deployed in various ways, and most of them help a little. But none are perfect.

I was recently introduced to the Stiletto Hardware line of products, and they may not be perfect either, but they're quite an improvement over the stuff I've been using! I was sent the ball of foot cushion, the slender ball of foot cushion, and the heel cushion to try.*

This pair of Seychelles heels is actually the right size, but because my foot slips down the slope of the sole when I stand up, they gap at the back. They're incredibly uncomfortable for that reason, and I've pretty much stopped wearing them. I've tried using cushioned inserts to alleviate this problem, but they are so thick that they push my toes up against the shoe vamp. Here's the shoe with no padding whatsoever. You can see the gap at the back:

The ball of foot cushion, on the other hand, simply keeps my foot in place - all the while adding some extra softness below my feet - and vastly improves overall fit. Here's the shoe with the Stiletto Hardware cushion inserted:

I used both the heel and slender ball of foot cushions to tweak the fit of these Tsubo sandals. These shoes are both slightly long and slightly wide on me, but the two cushions reposition my feet and add just enough padding to perfect how these adorable shoes sit on my feet.

The Shirt Review and Giveaway

I've discovered over the years that white button-down shirts are contentious garments, but I am a die-hard fan myself. So when the folks at Rochelle Behrens' The Shirt dropped me a line to see if I'd be interested in collaborating, well, I WAS.

I was sent the Skinny Shirt to test out*, since I prefer my button-downs nice and fitted. As you can see above, the size medium is a fantastic fit on my frame (size 8 dress, 34 C bra). I generally prefer button-downs with deeper v-necklines, but can certainly make do with this more conservative cut.

Now, if you're wondering what makes this shirt special enough to give it the designation "The Shirt," I'll tell ya. Many complaints about button-downs refer to gaping plackets and buttons that pull. The Shirt has hidden buttons BETWEEN the visible ones that keep the bust and upper torso areas flush to the body. Simple, but ingenious.

These shirts are made in several colors and through XXL/US 16, but I doubt they'll fit women with large busts and small waists. However, for those who can juuuuust about fit into regular button-downs yet struggle with minor gaping, these babies will be just the thing.

I bought my first pair of Sanita closed-back clogs in 1999 while I was living in San Francisco, and I STILL have them. This company has been designing and producing comfortable, stylish footwear since 1907, and they're still churning out darling styles every season. So when the Sanita folks contacted me to see if I'd do a review and giveaway, I was thrilled!

I was sent these Tory clogs to review*, and as you can see, they're absolutely adorable.

As is always the case with wood-soled shoes, I'm amazed by how walkable these guys are. You'd think such a stiff material would be jarring and painful, but these are stable and easy to wear. The toe box is a bit narrow and they run slightly small (I wear a size 8 US and definitely needed the size 39 Euro), but they're generally comfy. Plus the platform and chunky heel make them irresistibly fun and funky.

You've already seen me parading around proudly in my Karina dresses, and now I'm delighted to tell you a bit more about them and the company that makes them!

Karina's mission is aligned with my own: To help women with a variety of figure types and sizes feel fabulous about themselves. The dresses are designed to flatter many shapes while still remaining stylish and comfortable, and my impression is that the designs will work well for a range of body types. Sizing varies by style, and I recommend checking the detailed size listings here. Many dresses start at size 0 but some dresses only fit through a size 8 while others fit to a size 20. The material is a heavy, stretchy microfiber that drapes beautifully, never wrinkles, and washes easily. They're all made in Brooklyn in small batches, so prints tend to come in and out of rotation pretty quickly - nab 'em while you can!

I was sent the Megan and Alicia dresses to review.* You see the Megan style above, and I'm completely in love with it. Crossover style tops and dresses usually gape on me, but this one has the elegant, wrapped styling of a crossover with no gaping and a nice, modestly high neckline. The high waist works beautifully on me, and I adore the full, drapey skirt.And that print. SO cute.

This little number is the Alicia, and it's also super flattering and adorable, It's a one-shouldered style, which I find delightfully sassy, but it only comes in one size and is a bit snug in the neck/armpit area for me. I take a size 8 in most mall dresses, so I imagine this dress is suited to women who take a 6 or smaller. Still, love the pattern, construction, design, and fit overall.

These dresses are ideal for travel since they're lightweight but layerable, fold or roll up small, absolutely never wrinkle, and come in some eye-catching yet versatile prints. They'd also be great for women with active lifestyles: They're tough but flexible, stylish but comfy, and wonderfully washable. And if that's not endorsement enough? I got these two dresses to review, and then ponied up for a third one - another Megan!

Even MORE so since she gave me a set of her products to try out for myself.* As you all know, I have extremely sensitive, acne-prone skin that breaks out every time I sneeze, drink water, or think about puppies. (It's possible that I'm exaggerating, but you catch my drift.) So I must say that I was a little apprehensive about testing Elizabeth's products. I've been using the shea cream on my face's dry spots and under my eyes, and it has made my skin soft, plump, and radiant. The serum is now a nightly ritual for me - makes me a little too shiny for day - and has actually HELPED with my acne while simultaneously moisturizing and smoothing my skin. And the face spray? My only problem with this product is that every time I use it, I want to drink it. It smells absolutely delicious, and does everything it's designed to do: Hydrates, refreshes, and moisturizes. Utterly perfect now that we're headed into the dog days of summer.

Oh my friends, words cannot express my excitement about this giveaway. At this point, I'm sure you're all aware of my borderline unhealthy obsession with Prairie Underground's Long Cloak Hoodies. I purchased the red one pictured above while visiting New York in February, and it quickly became my absolute favorite garment. I am not kidding when I say I'm tempted to wear it constantly, and despite the hefty price tag I've ponied up for an additional two. Yes, really. And I have absolutely no regrets.

Prairie Underground is a company that creates clothing in small batches from materials that include organic cotton farmed sustainably and remnant/salvaged fabrics. Their garments are designed and ethically made in Seattle. So THAT'S a big boatload of awesome. And, of course, their designs are fun, flattering, comfortable, versatile, unique, and utterly gorgeous. I am perfectly comfortable with my raving fangirl status, thankyouverymuch.

I got in touch with the amazing designers behind Prairie Underground - Davora Lindner and Camilla Eckersley - and they generously offered to send me a couple more designs to try out.*

Wise as they are, the ladies sent me a pair of their Denim Girdle Leggings. These are basically the only pair I've ever tried that successfully straddle the line between jeggings and jeans. They are stretchy and flexible and fabulously comfortable, and work beautifully as denim leggings.

But they also have enough detail - including cargo-like decorative seaming - and structure to work as skinny jeans, too. They launder beautifully, have a marvelously high rise, and you can see exactly how happy they make me in the three above photos.

I was also sent this Sateen Mothette dress in coral:

As you can see, this dress is utterly lovely ... but I don't feel it quite works with my figure. The dress waistline falls several inches below my own waist, and the asymmetric flap at hip-level juts out a bit more than I'd like. Looking at the website photos, however, I believe that this dress would be stunning on a gal with slightly different proportions.

So, my loss is your gain: I'm giving this dress away to a lucky Already Pretty reader! A couple of IMPORTANT things to note:

It is this exact dress that I'm giving away. I opened it from the package and tried it on twice. Never had it on for more than 15 minutes total, including the time it took to take this photo. But the dress is not 100% new. You've been warned.

This dress is a size medium. I wear a size 8 in most mall dresses and it fit me in the waist, bust, and hips. You can find a size chart for this dress here and I would guess that the dress will fit a U.S. size 6, 8, or a smallish 10. Flat measurements are 16" bust, 14" waist, 19" at widest part of hips.

I've chatted with you gals a lot about haircare, shared my own recommendations, and taken many of yours to heart. On reader advice, I explored the DevaCurl line a bit and found it to be fairly good with my wild curls and waves, but not quite perfect. After several weeks, my hair looked lank and greasy and, unable to power through the lankness, I'd break down and wash it with a low-sulfate shampoo.

After I'd gone through this cycle for several months, the folks at WEN dropped me a line. This was another product set that Already Pretty readers with curls had recommended, and I was eager to try their cleansing conditioner. I was sent a huge bottle of the Lavender Cleansing Conditioner* and have been using it for about two months now.

And I'll level with you: Still not perfect. I exercise A LOT and also need to wet and apply product to my hair daily with my current haircut. That combination of factors means that my hair gets dirty and collects buildup. So I'm doing a low-sulfate shampoo one a week, or every two weeks. BUT! The WEN cleansing conditioner does in one step what the DevaCurl products do in two, which saves me loads of time. The WEN product makes my hair feel clean and soft, and actually helps it work better with my styling products; I've noticed that my hair gets a lot less crunchy than it used to, and I haven't changed products or amounts. And it smells heavenly!

I've said many times that I'm a shoe girl, NOT a handbag girl. But lately, I feel myself taking more of an interest in bags. I'm still too lazy to swap out my bag every single day so that it works perfectly with my outfit, but I'm starting to accumulate a pretty fabulous collection of functional-but-attractive bags.

Now, I've loved the look of the Foley + Corinna Mid-City Tote for several years. I remember ogling this bag in magazines and needing to wipe my drool from the glossy pages. But I'm extremely finicky about my handbags. I like them to be comfortable to carry, easy to access, and fit with my personal style and aesthetic. And I worried that the Mid-City would be fussy, that it would slouch weirdly when folded over, that it would annoy the crap out of me in everyday life.

Then the amazing folks at Foley + Corinna sent me a Mid-City Tote in Waxy Tumble Natural Grain Leather in this amazing teal. And after I'd spent about three hours making out with its soft, supple, yet scratch- and stain-resistant leather, I threw my stuff inside and took it for a test run.

And it WORKS, my friends.

Not only is this bag a stunner, it's easy to use and carry. The briefcase handles are comfortable but structured, and work equally well in the hand and on the forearm. And when carried by these shorter handles, the long strap just magically drapes itself across the bag in the most casual-chic way imaginable.

I will admit that the longer shoulder strap is a bit narrow for my taste, and cuts into my shoulder a little. But the bag folds itself so perfectly in half every single time that I just marvel. It must be something about the placement of the d-rings for the strap that force the bag itself to divide perfectly in half and sit quietly on my hip. Amazing.

I am seriously so thrilled with my Mid-City that I'm saving my pennies for a second one in a neutral tone. This bag is, hands down, the classiest, coolest, loveliest bag I own. And that's saying something.

I've been familiar with the Karen Kane brand for years, but mostly through thrifting. I knew that the company made great, durable basics, and that when I came across their wares in my thrift outings, they constituted fabulous finds. But since I'd never bought their products new from department stores or online, I was excited to get the chance to review a few pieces from their 2011 spring and summer lines.* Several of these items are not yet for sale - so you'll have to keep your eyes peeled over the next few months - but I'll link to the ones that are currently available!

Above you see me in a pair of Karen Kane jeggings. I've worn these babies twice already (see the previous outfit here), and I am incredibly impressed. I own a pair of very legging-like jeggings from Hue, a pair of very jean-like jeggings from the Gap, and now these. This Karen Kane version presents the best merge of denim and legging that I've yet experienced and has quickly become my favorite pair. Initially, I was put off by the wide black elastic waistband (which is undeniably odd), but since it will never, ever be seen by anyone but me and gives the jeggings an incredibly comfortable and relatively high rise, I got over my doubts in no time flat. They stretch but don't get distended, launder beautifully, fit very close to the calf, and feel truly fantastic.

I am totally enamored of this slinky, sassy, black Asymmetric Hem Dress.The jersey is heavy and drapes beautifully, and the style is so fabulously versatile. Here, I styled it with a black shrug and studded gladiator heels, but this tank-style dress will look just as gorgeous on its own, once warmer weather permits.

This printed scoopneck dress is so adorable, I can hardly stand it. The graphic print reminds me of a birch tree, and seems simultaneously geometric and organic. The ruched cap sleeves are comfy and cute, the A-line skirt is flirty and flattering, and the scooped neck leaves just enough room for a fun statement necklace. Total love.

Cobalt blue is super trendy this spring, so I was tickled to receive this darling printed tank dress (here in plus sizes, though it will eventually be available in non-plus.) It's a lined dress with a micro-mesh overlay, so it has a wonderfully floaty feel. The above-the-knee hemline is just to my taste, and I adore the simple, elegant, flared-skirt styling.

And finally, this lace-and-tulle confection is just wild, isn't it? I'm not sure I would've picked it out for myself, but now that I've got it in my hot little hands, I'm cooking up more and more fun ways to deploy it. The dress is another tank style, a simple sheath shape, but has a matte black lining, black lace overlay, and rectangles of tulle stitched on for a truly funky texture. Take a peek:

I dressed it down with my jean jacket for this photo shoot, but it'll be fabulous dressed UP, too. Just imagine it with a rhinestone bracelet and hot pink lips. Smokin'.

The folks over at Jones New York contacted me about a collaboration right around the time that I began working with a style consult client who is a big fan of the line. My exposure to JNY had mostly been through thrifting since I don't generally shop at department stores, and I knew they made quality garments but was curious to find out more.

THEN I found out about their Empowering Your Confidence campaign and was even more intrigued. A study done for the Center for American progress found that half of all American workers are women. And since Jones New York mainly caters to career-oriented women, this statistic inspired them to create some resources for their fans. There's a Little Black Book of Career Advice, with contributions from over 100 influential women including Sony Music president Amanda Ghost, journalist Ariana Huffington, cosmetics guru Bobbi Brown, and former White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers. There's an empowerment journal with posts covering topics about career, style choices, and effective negotiations. Also a series of stylist-guided videos on how to wear and style career-friendly looks, and tons more. It's really an incredibly deep, interesting, and useful little campaign. And you can't often say, that, can you?

Plus, as it turns out, the clothes are GREAT.

Jones New York wanted me to really get a feel for the brand, quality, and aesthetic so I was sent several pieces to review.*

This Draped Twist Front Dress is my absolute favorite. The dark, subtle leopard print, heavy draped jersey fabric, flattering cut ... fabulous. I'm especially enamored of the neckline. It's a plunging one, for sure, but there's a little V of fabric right at the tip of the plunge that keeps it from being TOO revealing. So brilliant! It's a bit long for my taste, and I'll be taking it to the tailor for a chop, but for taller women, gals with longer legs than mine, or women who prefer a more modest length, it's ideal. I generally wear a size 8 dress, and the 8 fits perfectly.

This Three-quarter Sleeve Cashmere Cowl Neck Sweater is super cute, too. It's a fabulous muted red - a color I look for constantly and seldom find - and the cowl itself drapes so elegantly. The cashmere isn't the softest in the world, and it runs a bit smaller than the other pieces I was sent. I requested a small although I'm typically a medium, since the JNY size charts show that most items run large ... but this sweater runs fairly true.

I'll admit that I have this Pleated Sweater Skirt hiked up to my bra line - again, it's a bit long for my taste - but it's stretchy and comfy and conforms beautifully to my shape without being too tight or revealing. Such a fun and versatile piece. Runs slightly big - the small fits my waist, and I'm typically an 8 in skirts.

Finally, this long v-neck cardigan rocks my world. The color is a fabulously versatile neutral that sits somewhere between gray and olive green, and the cut is sleek and refined yet works beautifully with casual ensembles like this one. (This bad boy is sold out, I'm afraid.)

Overall, my impressions are that Jones New York designs high-quality, versatile clothing that's ideal for working women seeking durable, more-modest-than-Banana-Republic-is-currently-offering basics. The cuts are generally long, sizes run a bit big, but as long as you're willing to work within those parameters, you can get some really lovely, super stylish, and utterly timeless pieces that will last you years and years.

The good folks at Tulle were kind enough to send me this darling collarless blazer to review.* My inner snob has long rebelled against the idea of faux leather, but this piece has convinced me, once and for all, that tremendous strides have been made in the design and manufacture of pleather. Yes, it squeaks a bit when I move, but people? This is so close to the real thing - right down to the wrinkles and texture - that I can pretty much guarantee everyone you know will be fooled.

Land's End Coat Review and Giveaway

I spent my first five years as a Minnesotan wearing a wool peacoat all winter long. Back in 2005, I finally bought a fitted down parka that has been my faithful cold weather companion ever since. But it drives me a bit nuts. You'd think that an incredibly expensive North Face coat would hold up over the years, but it really hasn't. The collar and sleeves have become a bit goopy and gross, despite frequent washings. And those washings have caused the coat to leak little white feathers onto me all winter long. ANNOYING.

So I've been pondering buying a new one. Black, despite my love for color, to hide the wear and tear a bit better. And maybe something with a better hood.

But before I could even begin my search, the good folks at Land's End asked if I'd be willing to review one of THEIR down coats.* You can guess what I said.

I got this gorgeous little number in the mail just in time for the first big Minnesota snow dump. It's the Chevron Down Coat, and at full price it costs HALF of what my North Face set me back.

And you're going to have to put up with a lot of photos of it, because I am IN LOVE. I wore my old coat to the gym this same day, and I can tell you that this baby is hella warmer. Plus I just adore the contouring.

And did I mention the hood? Ach, the CUTENESS. And it's roomy and warm and stays in place. A real, useful, wind-blocking hood.

Main objection: The three snaps at the coat hem. What is the point of those? They let the wind through even when fastened and look a bit dopey, in my opinion. I wish the double-ended zipper just went all the way down.

Awesome aspects: Snug fleece cuffs embedded in the sleeves keep the wind out beautifully, the stand-up collar is warm and soft, and it really, truly is warmer than my North Face. No kidding.
